WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of $2,677,470 to the Texas Workforce Commission to support continued employment and training services for transitioning military service members and their spouses near and at the U.S. Army’s Fort Hood installation.
Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, a National Dislocated Worker Grant of up to $8,032,410 was awarded to the Texas Workforce Commission in December 2021, with an initial award of $2,677,470. Today’s incremental award brings the total project funds awarded to $5,354,940.
The commission will use the funds to continue employment and training services to eligible individuals in central Texas. In addition to this award, the state received two similar Dislocated Worker Grants to support the delivery of re-employment services in the same general service area to transitioning service members and their spouses.
Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, a Service Member Dislocated Worker Grant provides resources to states and other eligible applicants in communities experiencing a higher than average demand for services from transitioning service members.
