What: Workplace safety alliance
Background: On Oct. 5, 2022, OSHA’s Sioux Falls office and the South Dakota Safety Council signed a two-year alliance to proactively address safety issues related to heat, fall prevention, powered industrial vehicles and trench safety. OSHA will work with the council to promote workers’ rights and remind employers of their legal responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. They will also share information on regional and local initiatives, and jointly participate in forums, discussion and stakeholder meetings on hazards. Finally, OSHA and the South Dakota Safety Council will organize and co-host an event to honor Worker Memorial Day in April 2023.
The OSHA Alliance Program enables organizations to enter voluntarily into a cooperative relationship to raise awareness of OSHA’s initiatives, outreach, communications, training and education.
