WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today recognized 835 employers from around the nation for their commitment to hiring and retaining U.S. military veterans during an online event broadcast from the department’s Washington headquarters.
The event featured recipients of the 2022 Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans medallion awards, presented annually to employers who meet specific criteria for the only federal-level veterans’ employment award. Since 2018, more than 1,400 employers have earned a HIRE Vets Medallion Award.
Following opening remarks by Assistant Secretary for the Veterans’ Employment and Training James D. Rodriguez, Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh moderated an online roundtable discussion with participating award recipients.
“The U.S. Department of Labor appreciates the commitment shown by the recipients of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award to employing, retaining and supporting our nation’s veterans,” said Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. “By putting the unique skills and talents of our veterans to work, these employers strengthen their companies and ensure that our nation’s economy continues to grow.”
