WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an award of more than $1.5 million to support employment and training services for transitioning military service members in and around the U.S. Army’s Fort Bliss installation in Texas.
Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, the award to Workforce Solutions Borderplex is the first increment of a National Dislocated Worker Grant of up to approximately $4.7 million that will allow the workforce investment board to provide retraining and skills development for dislocated service members in El Paso County.
One of 28 public workforce development boards in Texas, Workforce Solutions Borderplex serves the six-county Borderplex region with funding support from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Service Member National Dislocated Worker Grants provide resources to a state or local board experiencing higher than average demand for services from transitioning military service members and spouses.
