WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced additional funding of $1,767,172 to the Government of Guam’s Department of Administration to respond to the workforce needs resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.

Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, the grant award allows participants to continue disaster-relief employment in positions addressing pandemic cleanup and humanitarian activities, as well as assisting in the delivery of employment and training services to eligible individuals.

Emergency declarations issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency enable Guam to request this funding.

Supported by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Dislocated Worker Grants temporarily expand the service capacity of dislocated worker programs at the state and local levels by providing funding assistance in response to large, unexpected economic events that cause significant job losses.
