HARRISBURG, PA – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Barton Malow and Alexander Building Construction Co. have established a strategic partnership to promote workplace safety during construction of the Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center in Lancaster.
The partnership will provide supervisors and workers with training on falls and fall protection, caught-in or -between, struck-by and electrocution hazards, as well as scaffolding, excavation and crane operation safety and hazard recognition.
The medical center is a 41,000-square-foot acute care hospital with all private inpatient beds, an emergency department, various specialty inpatient services, an imaging lab, complete medical and surgical capabilities and an attached medical office building for outpatient services.
Through the Strategic Partnership Program, OSHA works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations, and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees.
