Description: The beverage container manufacturer maintains excellent housekeeping practices to promote workplace safety. The Monte Vista site was recognized for maintaining an exemplary safety and health culture supported by excellent levels of management commitment and employee engagement, including a focus on computerized process controls. The site also has a comprehensive and effective dust collection system, belt alignment sensors and temperature sensing matrices in the stored grain piles and bins.
Background: OSHA announced the Star designation for workplace safety and health excellence following an evaluation by a team of OSHA safety and health experts. A Star site designation is the highest level of recognition the agency’s Voluntary Protection Program offers. The site was initially approved for the VPP in 2015. Molson Coors now has seven grain elevators participating in the OSHA program, including sites in Burley, Idaho; Huntley, Montana; Worland, Wyoming; and in Longmont, and Golden, Colorado.
To participate, employers must apply to OSHA for consideration, and undergo a rigorous on-site evaluation by a team of safety and health professionals. Learn more about the VPP.
Duration: Initially approved in December 2015, Molson Coors’ Monte Vista Barley Elevator location has maintained VPP certification for more than eight years.
